Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond
It gives me great pleasure to launch the Scottish Asian Women's Association (SAWA). The Scottish Government is committed to working with women from ethnic minorities to help remove the barriers to participation, and enable achievement in all walks of life. We value the economic, social and cultural contributions made by Scottish Asian Women living in Scotland.
SAWA will enable Scottish Asian Women from all professions fields and disciplines to make links with senior representatives of the public and third sectors, private industry and academia.
I wish SAWA every success as it goes forward.
Princess Badiya of Jordan
Dear Tasmina,
I am delighted to endorse and support the Scottish Asian Women’s Association and the Scottish Asian Women’s Awards.
I have visited Scotland on a number of occasions and have always enjoyed spending time there. In England, I have seen first hand the benefits of networks which can draw upon the wealth of talent Asian women have with a view to helping each other, and those requiring of assistance and mentoring. I am delighted that you will be creating such a network in Scotland.
Your aims and objectives are very worthwhile and with the enthusiasm and spirit you have you will surely achieve them, Insha’Allah. I regret that I am unable to join you at the launch of this fantastic initiative, however, I wish you and all the guests well and look forward to seeing you soon.
With very best wishes,
Badiya
